Also, his team obtained the Lafferty Global Award on Credit Card Excellence for the impact of analytics on customer equity (2016). Jose was named among the top analytics and data professionals in North America by Corinium in its first and second edition. He has been published in several industry and refereed journals, he is a frequent speaker at analytics forums and he is a member of Queen’s University Advisory Board for the Master in Management Analytics.

Prior to Banorte, Jose was a top ranking official at Mexico’s Central Bank and participated for more than a decade at the Monetary Policy Committee holding the staff’s view on inflation –a key variable for policy decision. Also, he was an advisor to the International Monetary Fund on statistics and led missions to Ecuador and Chile. At the academia he taught economics at Rice University, ITAM and El Colegio de Mexico. He holds a PhD in economics from Rice University and graduated from ITAM (Cum Laude and received prizes from the Chamber of Commerce and Tlacalel Prize).

Chris is CTO and Founding Engineer of Reddit.  Though a software engineer by vocation, his first attempt at a career started with his finishing a PhD in experimental physics at Harvard where he learned about the importance of modeling, critical thinking, statistics, and (honestly) welding.  He uses the first three skills regularly.  The final years of his PhD were concurrent with him breaking into startups and getting accepted to the first YCombinator class, where he subsequently met Steve and Alexis and became Reddit’s first employee five months into the company. After five years at Reddit, he left with Steve to work on Hipmunk as Chief Scientist.  He’s been back at Reddit for since 2016 and has just transition to CTO in 2017.

Morgan Vawter is the Chief Analytics Director at Caterpillar, Inc. In her position, Morgan leads the global Information Analytics (IA) team. Her team is helping to develop and provide predictive analytics capabilities to customers. Paritosh and his team are focused on creating value from Target’s data assets across all enterprise functions.

Under Paritosh’s direction, Target has brought in a world-class team of data scientists, engineers and analysts who have created tools and data products that drive decision making across the company.  The team’s work include technology that powers personalization capabilities – from product recommendations to ads – as well as iOT applications, fraud detection, supply chain optimization and demand forecasting.  The EDABI team is also instrumental in creating test and measure opportunities for Target experiences both in stores and online.

Paritosh joined Target in 2013, with a background in designing and delivering data science-based decision support systems using various advanced data science algorithms and web-scale technologies, primarily for the retail industry. He previously served as senior director of data science at Gap Inc., where his focus was on applying predictive models for analyzing and affecting customer behavior, inventory planning decisions, and personalization. Before this, he held senior roles at IBM-owned retail analytics firm, DemandTec.

Alfred is Vice President, R&D and Analytics (Sep. 2013 – present) in the Digital Platforms Group at McGraw-Hill Education. Reporting to Stephen Laster, he has strategic responsibility for research, data science, and analytics.

Previously he was Director of Analytics Research & Strategy (Feb. 2011 – Aug. 2013) at Desire2Learn Inc, where he was responsible for leading research and business strategy for the analytics portfolio, including products, solutions, acquisitions, and partnerships. At Desire2Learn he led product development of the Student Success System, the acquisition of Degree Compass, and the architecture of the joint analytics solution with IBM.

He was Associate Vice Chancellor and Deputy CIO (2006 – 2011) at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, the fifth-largest system of two-and four-year colleges and universities in the US. At MnSCU he led academic online strategy, enterprise infrastructure services, identity and access management, network security, academic technologies, and web development.

In 2005 he co-founded (with Carl Blesius) the .LRN Consortium, serving as the first Board Chair and Executive Director. .LRN is an open source project based on OpenACS, which in turn is based on the pioneering ACS open source toolkit developed by MIT entrepreneur Philip Greenspun.

Alfred was CIO at MIT’s Sloan School of Management (1999-2005) with responsibility for strategic planning and delivering high-touch services at one of the premier business schools in the world. At MIT he was the Principal Investigator for the iLearn project, a research effort to design the next generation learning system. He received an MIT Excellence Award in 2005 for Innovative Solutions and MIT Sloan Community Appreciation Awards in 2002 and 2005.

Alfred is a High Honors, Phi Beta Kappa, and Magna Cum Laude graduate of Haverford College. He also holds Masters degrees (MA, MPhil) from Yale University, where he was an instructor in the selective Directed Studies honors program. In 1982 he served as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow.

Alfred is an avid long-distance runner, having completed 7 marathons and qualified for the Boston marathon in 2010 with a time of 3:24. In his spare time he can also be found playing pickup blitz chess games in ICC. His favorite chess player is Mikhail Tal, known for his daring, improvisational style. His most recent interest is developing free online tutorials for data analysis and scientific computing using the Python programming language.

Professor Sharif has developed and published new multivariate visualization techniques for functional data and currently he is developing visualization techniques to study brain activity data collected via the near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) technology. Professor Sharif teaches statistics courses that range from introductory statistics to data analysis for decision-making through to advanced modern statistical learning techniques.

Peggy also worked at S&P Global where she held various managerial positions in enterprise data group and technology in order to drive the value of data between the business and IT.

Peggy has a Masters in Information Systems from New York University and a Bachelors of Arts in Economics from Cornell University.  She is a member of the Data Governance Professional Organization. Prior to joining CZI, Dewey served as Chief Analytics Officer and Deputy Chief Scientist for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T). At DHS, he was responsible for developing and executing analytic strategies to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and/or timeliness of decision making within S&T and DHS components.
